For First-Time Visitors
National Health Insurance Benefits
Patients eligible for national health insurance benefits must present a medical treatment benefit (medical treatment) referral letter issued by a primary or secondary medical institution (hospital or clinic) and their ID card to the Medical Cooperation Center on the first floor of the main building.
Medical Care Benefits
Patients eligible for medical care benefits must present a medical treatment benefit (medical treatment) referral letter issued by a secondary medical institution (general hospital) and their ID card to the Medical Cooperation Center on the first floor of the main building.
Referral letters issued by primary medical institutions (clinics) are not accepted.
Because JBUH is a tertiary medical institution (upper-level general hospital), patients require a medical treatment benefit (medical treatment) referral letter from a primary medical care institution (hospital or clinic) or a medical examination/diagnosis report from a doctor stating the necessity of medical treatment at an upper-level general hospital to be eligible for national health insurance benefits, in accordance with the Rules on the Standards for National Health Insurance Medical Care Benefits.
Unless the required documents are submitted, the medical cost will not be covered by national health insurance (i.e., the patient must pay 100% out-of-pocket). Health insurance will be applied only from the date of document submission (retroactive coverage is not possible).
Cases where a medical treatment benefit (medical treatment referral letter) and a health examination/diagnosis report are not required:
Emergency or childbirth
Rehabilitation medicine (only for registered persons with disabilities as defined in Article 32 of the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities or those who are recognized as requiring rehabilitation treatment such as occupational therapy or exercise therapy)
Hemophilia patient receiving medical treatment benefits
Employees of the hospital receiving medical treatment benefits

New and first-time patients must bring a referral letter and an ID card to the Medical Cooperation Center on the first floor of the main building to check in and schedule an appointment.

After arriving at the hospital, enter your registration number into the reception kiosk and complete the check-in process.
